What is Krillion on DleZone?

Krillion is the name of the trivia game that inspired our independent editions. On DleZone, it is an open-answer challenge. You read a condition and supply an example that fits. Across seven rounds, accepted answers earn points and move a dive down a visual depth scale.

Check which edition a guide describes. DleZone is an independent, unofficial version. We maintain edited prompts, accepted response lists and fixed point tiers. The instructions below describe those editions, including their scoring and Daily schedule. Use that context when comparing results or reading advice about a different version of the game.

How to play Krillion on DleZone

Start a dive and play seven rounds. Each round gives you three seconds to read the prompt and 25 seconds to submit one accepted answer. Check the score, then choose Next when you are ready. Try the sequence below before opening your first timed round.

  1. 3s

    Read the conditions

Find the requested kind of answer, its relationship and any date or region limits.

  2. 25s

    Enter an example

Submit one answer. A rejected response can be retried while the answer window remains open.

  3. Next

    Read the result

Check the accepted answer and its points, then continue. Full answer lists open after seven rounds.

If you need a break, wait for a round result. The active round keeps its deadline if you change tabs, open help or reload. A result screen gives you room to pause before moving to the next prompt. Starting a round commits you to its clock, so read the rules and choose your sound preference before beginning if the format is unfamiliar.

Read the whole question before choosing a name

The game rewards precise recall. Recognizing the subject is a starting point. You also need the right category, relationship and boundary. A famous name can be associated with a subject while failing the exact condition on screen. The reading phase helps you notice that difference before you submit.

A hypothetical reading exercise
Name a film directed by the named filmmaker during the stated decade.
The object
Supply a film title. The filmmaker’s own name does not answer this question.
The credit
A directing credit is required. Producing or acting connects a person to a film in another way.
The period
The film has to fall inside the decade. Check the date as well as the name.

During play, read the category and full prompt for the conditions. After completing all seven rounds, expand a question in the review to inspect its accepted answers and point tiers. The accepted list is finite: a reasonable answer may be missing. Report an issue from that question if the wording or list seems wrong. Public Daily recaps also show scope notes, but only after the challenge has ended globally.

Choose Daily, Unlimited or a themed edition

Across the five editions, the answer format stays familiar, while the cadence or subject changes. Daily is a shared challenge for one challenge date. Unlimited offers another mixed-topic set after you finish. The themed editions focus your recall on sporting results, cinema or geography. Choose the session you want before starting the timer.

EditionChoose it for
DailyOne shared set and one attempt for the challenge date.
UnlimitedRepeatable seven-round general-knowledge practice.
SportsAthletes, competitions and results with event and year conditions.
MoviesFilms, directors and other cinema relationships.
GeographyCountries, capitals and natural features with stated boundaries.

Why do questions return? The collections are finite. Practice prefers unseen prompts within topics, then brings older ones back, using retained history across editions for up to 30 days. A repeat can test whether you remember why an answer fit. Refreshing resumes the current set, while Play another seven becomes available after finishing a practice dive.

How scoring works

On DleZone, each recognized answer has an editorial familiarity tier. Its points are added to your set total. These values express editorial estimates of familiarity for that question edition. They do not count how many players chose the answer. A skip or timeout contributes zero, and previously earned points stay in the dive.

A fictional scoring example
Invented prompt: name a film directed by Mira Vale in the 1990s. In this fictional reference, she directed Harbour (1992) and Orchard (1998), and acted in Crossing (1996). The point assignments below are illustrative.
Harbour · 20 points
Harbour fits the directing and decade conditions. If assigned to the Everyday tier, it earns 20 points.
Orchard · 85 points
Orchard also fits. If assigned to the Deep cut tier, it earns 85 points. These assignments do not measure player choices.
Crossing · rejected
Crossing has the right decade but only an acting credit. It fails the directing condition and earns no points. All names and credits here are invented.
Points become dive depth
20 pts200 m50 pts500 m100 pts1000 m

Every point adds 10 metres. These examples illustrate the scale used by the game.

Adding a finished set
35 + 70 + 0 + 50 + 85 + 20 + 100 = 360 points
A missed round
The third round contributes zero. The other six accepted responses still count.
Dive depth
At ten metres per point, 360 points represents 3,600 metres.
Available points
Compare the total with the possible score shown for this set. Each prompt has its own highest available answer.

The maximum score depends on the seven prompts. Some have no answer in the highest tier, so a game need not have a 700-point ceiling. Personal bests compare identical versioned sets. A larger raw result on a different set can reflect a different ceiling as well as your recall. Older saved preview games retain their original scoring scale.

When an answer is rejected or needs confirmation

When you submit, the response has to match a versioned accepted list for the prompt’s stated scope. Case, accents, spacing and punctuation are normalized, and selected aliases are included. Exact names are checked before trying a form without a leading “the”, so similarly named works stay distinct. A close spelling can produce a suggestion. Confirm it only if it identifies the person, place or work you intended.

After a rejection, you can keep trying different answers until the timer runs out. Recheck the condition before repeating the same spelling. A different year, event or credit can explain why a plausible example failed. Passing is available if recall has stalled, and completing the remaining rounds still unlocks a useful review.

When Daily resets

DleZone Daily resets at midnight in the time zone saved when your browser prepares the game, with one attempt per challenge date. Changing devices or the device time zone does not change that saved game’s deadline. If yesterday’s unfinished Daily is still open when the date changes, it closes and offers a route to the new set. Leave time to finish if you start near the boundary.

LocationLocal Daily reset
UTC00:00 local time
Beijing / Shanghai00:00 local time
London00:00 local time
New York / Los Angeles00:00 local time

For players in different countries, “today” means the challenge date in the saved game’s time zone. Compare the date in shared results: friends in different countries can reach the next puzzle at different times. Daylight-saving changes are handled by the saved time zone, so reset remains at its midnight. Older games prepared under the UTC schedule keep that original deadline. Official Krillion and other games set their own schedules; this table applies to new DleZone Daily games.

Use the reveal, then decide what to play next

After completing all seven rounds, the review shows accepted answers grouped by tier and points. Choose a missed question and identify the condition you overlooked. For a correct answer, inspect an unfamiliar alternative and the fact that makes it fit. That relationship is easier to apply next time than a name remembered without its context.

When you return, an unfinished game can reconnect in the same browser, and eligible guest games can be claimed when you sign in. Account-linked progress can resume on another signed-in device. Full game records expire after 30 days; minimal account Daily completion summaries remain until account deletion. Unfinished Daily attempts still close at midnight in their saved time zone. Clearing site data can remove the guest identity needed to reconnect.

After one finished dive, you can share a spoiler-free score or start another practice set. Quit dive ends the current attempt, and quitting Daily uses that day’s opportunity. If a result seems wrong, use Report an issue under that question in the completed review. Account players can also check replies from the account page. Keep passwords and sign-in links out of the message.
